WiFi controlled Arduino-bot
WiShield from AsyncLabs allows this Arduino robot to be controlled via a C program on a Linux Zipit via a wireless router. An IR sensor on a servo provides intelligent roving when commanded from the Zipit.
Hydro Quebec and BCTC Power Line Inspecting Robots
Hydro-Quebec and BCTC received the 2010 Edison Award from the Edison Electric Institute in the International Affiliate category for their partnership on the field deployment and enhancement of a high performance robot called LineScout. The LineScout, originally developed by Hydro-Quebec, uses leading-edge inspection equipment and advanced manoeuvrability technology in order to complete detailed and comprehensive inspection of energized transmission lines and can navigate line obstacles such as spacer dampers, insulator connections, and aircraft warning indicators.
